Interim Head of Finance – Commissioning & Benchmarking

Location: Cardiff and Vale University Health Board  Role Type: Interim (Temporary) 6 Month Work Arrangement: Hybrid  Band: 8c

Pay rate £350 - £365 per day 

 Are you a financial professional ready to make an impact in healthcare? We are seeking an Interim Head of Finance – Commissioning & Benchmarking to take on a pivotal role in driving excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

In this exciting interim position, you will:

• Oversee financial commissioning and provider agreements, including WHSSC and LHB contracts.
• Lead the development of costing and benchmarking strategies to optimise performance and improve data management.
• Advise on clinical service business cases to support innovation in healthcare services.
• Represent the Finance Department in key meetings, driving strategy and influencing policy.
• Manage a team of eight, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• Fully qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
• Proven experience in financial management and commissioning, ideally within healthcare or public sector organisations.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and drive change.
• Expertise in financial analysis, business intelligence, and reporting.
• Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities.
