NHS Housekeeper
Job Summary:
To be responsible for providing specialist cleaning, unskilled cleaning and maintenance related to cleaning and all associated procedures throughout the Trust in order to create a clean, healthy and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors in accordance with local and national health, safety and hygiene legislations, The Health & Social Care Act 2008 and the NHS Cleanliness in Hospital Plan and PLACE.

Pay Rates:
- Weekdays £12.82per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay
- Saturdays: £16.50per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay
- Sundays: £19.00 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay
Hours / Working Days:
- Upto 37.5 hours per week, working 5 days across Monday to Friday.
- Shift 1 is 8am to 1pm / Shift 2 is 4pm to 7pm

Specialist Cleaning and Domestic Tasks
- Performance of specialist and general cleaning tasks to prescribed standards and in accordance with the work schedule, hospital policies and department operating procedures, either on an individual basis or as part of a team.
- To have a full understanding of heavy duty cleaning equipment and procedures, their use and maintenance.
- Ensure all equipment and machinery used are cleaned regularly and securely stored along with materials after use.
- Removal and rehanging of curtains in ward areas as directed.
- To ensure that a clean and hygienic environment is maintained at all times for Trust staff, patients and members of the public in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness and/or Trust cleaning policies. Complete necessary paperwork.
- Assist clinical staff with the cleaning of bodily fluids as directed by your Supervisor
- Clean patient mattresses, beds and or/bed frames and complete necessary paperwork as part of the bedroom cleaning schedule.
- To work as part of a team to work on wards as directed undertaking domestic duties following the Ward cleaning schedules.
- Ensure the use of machinery, equipment and materials complies with manufacturer’s instructions, legal requirements and local procedures.
- Wear protective clothing in line with policy and use approved safe methods and techniques when lifting and handling.
- Report any work difficulties and potential hazards promptly to the responsible line manager.
- Collect and remove waste materials in accordance with Trust and site procedures.
- Follow laid down procedures in the event of an emergency.
- Undertake training necessary to the efficient and safe delivery of the services.
- To seek to continually improve standards of cleanliness throughout the Trust.
- Comply with Trust and Unit Health and Safety policy.
