Registration criteria with the NMC will be changing from 18^th January 2016. The changes have been implemented to improve the quality of nursing care. The NMC will now require all Nurses and Midwives, including EEA trained nurses and midwives, by providing evidence of their proficiency in English.

You will need to provide evidence that you meet the language requirements, such as:

• Your qualifications were taught in English

• Registration and two years of practice in an English Speaking country

• Or, the most popular option, International English Language Testing System – IELST. 

You can find more information such as when is the next assessment near you by clicking www.ielts.org. This test will test your skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening and each element will be scored from 0 to 9, you will need to score a minimum of 7 in all four of them.
