About Complex Care Nursing

Complex Care Nurses and Support Workers work with patients who have intricate and multifaceted health conditions, including brain injuries, spinal injuries, palliative care needs, respiratory issues, and neurological disorders. These roles require exceptional communication skills and empathy to support patients and their families through challenging times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Personalised Care Plans: Develop and implement tailored care plans for each patient.

  • Medication and Treatment: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Symptom Management: Monitor and manage symptoms and side effects to improve patient comfort.
  • Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with various healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families on managing their conditions effectively.

Due to the complex nature of these roles, the ability to think critically and work autonomously is essential. Your decisions will directly impact your patients' quality of life and health outcomes.

We offer roles across a variety of specialisations within complex care, including:

  • Registered General Nurses

What Does a Complex Care Nurse Earn?

NHS nurses are paid according to their ‘band’. Newly qualified nurses start at Band 5 and increase their band with further experience and nursing skills development. A Band 5 Complex Care Nurse will earn £25,655* per year for a permanent contract. Locum Complex Care nurses have the potential to earn a higher annual salary.

*Salaries are calculated using the official NHS pay scale for 2021/22.

Locum Complex Care Jobs

As a locum Complex Care Nurse or Support Worker with Your World, you could earn a higher annual salary than working on permanent contracts. Instead of working in one location for a contracted set of hours, you’ll take ad-hoc shifts in multiple settings. The benefits include a more flexible work/life balance (you decide what shifts you take), daily or weekly payroll, and the chance to experience various care settings.
