Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior SQL Developer with expert knowledge in Microsoft SQL technology. This role involves managing and maintaining around 900 databases, setting database strategy, and overseeing all SQL Database Management Systems (DBMS) across the organization. The post holder will also lead multiple database projects throughout the year.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Database Management:

  • Set and implement database strategy in collaboration with the Head of Department (HOD).
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SQL database technology.
  • Oversee all SQL DBMS operations, ensuring performance, reliability, and security.

Database Maintenance:

  • Support and maintain databases with a focus on improving performance and ensuring data quality.

Project Management:

  • Plan and manage multiple database projects annually, including the design and implementation of new systems.

Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Work with various departments to address data needs and provide database solutions.
  • Report to the HOD on database performance and project status.

Compliance:

  • Ensure all database systems comply with policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Stay updated on the latest SQL technologies and best practices.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Certification in Microsoft SQL Server or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in managing large-scale SQL databases and leading database projects.
  • Healthcare sector experience is desirable.

Skills:

  • Expert in Microsoft SQL technology with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and working collaboratively.

Attributes:

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
  • Committed to high standards of data integrity and security.

Questions
