Pay Rates:  £23 - £25 PAYE per hour

£24 - £26 PAYE inclusive of holiday pay per hour

£25 - £27 Umbrella per hour

Working Days and Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, 37.5 hours per week

 Job Summary 

The ER advisor will provide a full range of comprehensive and professional HR services within a nominated directorate and/or service across the trust offering  specialist and generalist support and advice on the full range of ER issues. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the operational delivery of a range of ER services 
  • To advise and support managers in the undertaking of investigations including grievance, discipline and formal bullying and harassment cases in line with the trusts bullying and harassment resolution pathway
  • To assess options and advise and support managers in the preparation of case information for presentation at formal disciplinary, grievance, capability and attendance hearings/appeals
  • To attend formal hearings and advise the hearing chair during disciplinary/capability/attendance hearings up-to and including decisions to dismiss
  • To advise on redeployment, retirement or termination of employment on the grounds of ill health whilst being mindful of employment legislation and trust policies
  • Produce and support managers in the production of concise, accurate and appropriately toned correspondence to reflect and record both informal and formal processes in line with best practice and trust policies
  • Ensure all case work is reflected on the ER case spreadsheet accurately and in a timely fashion in order to meet monthly board return requirements
  • To analyse and interpret management information to support the directorates and services with proactive performance management and workforce planning
  • To develop and promote good relationships and partnership working with local and full time trade union officers / staff side representatives to promote a constructive and partnership working culture and proactive and constructive approach to the resolution of staffing issues
  • To undertake projects related to transformation of employee relations services in the trust embedding the philosophy of kinder ER processes following the Dido Harding recommendations
  • To assist the Deputy Director of Workforce in the coordination and achievement of relevant internal and external HR audits
  • To undertake projects related to process and service improvement as and when required and appropriate to achieve the delivery of an efficient, proactive and high profile HR function
  • To maintain a thorough knowledge of employment law and changing working practices, anticipate and react to implications for the trust. 

Essential Experience

  • Experience of providing ER advice and support to managers and staff on the full range of HR issues 
  • Experience of drafting or updating HR policies and procedures 
  • Experience of using ESR 
  • Experience of providing advise to staff of all levels 
  • A solid understanding of GDPR

Desirable Experience

  • Degree in Human Resources
  • Experience of project management 
  • Experience of running training session 
  • Experience of partaking in audits
  • CIPD graduate or equivalent

  • Ability to work confidentiality respecting the privacy of the individuals involved
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to make sound and persuasive arguments to secure positive outcomes
  • Ability to identify key issues for the service, using analysis and evaluation skills to consider information, reach logical conclusions and make recommendations
  • Demonstrates resilience and professionalism and deals with conflicting demands whilst retaining professionalism
  • Able to work on own initiative and judgement
  • Pro-active and able to work independently as well as part of a team/project
  • Remains calm and professional under pressure, even when dealing with challenging situations 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels
