At Your World Healthcare, we dedicate ourselves to helping careers in clinical physiology. This includes Respiratory Physiologists who study the human body and its organ systems. One candidate’s journey with us, from Band 4 to Band 8, highlights our dedication.

With Zak’s guidance, they gained vital experience in respiratory physiology, pulmonary physiology, and cardiac physiology across diverse NHS roles. We helped them grow through placements that included health checks, blood pressure tests, and blood flow management. This support allowed them to make a lasting impact in human physiology. This blog shares their inspiring story.

Can you give us a brief overview of your progression as a Respiratory Physiologist?

I started my career as a Band 4 Respiratory Physiologist in 2020. I received support from Zak at Your World from the start. I’m now proud to be working as an experienced Band 8.

After completing my studies in anatomy and physiology, I started as a trainee in healthcare, focused on clinical physiology and respiratory physiology. My main tasks included doing respiratory and sleep tests. This helped me gain experience in human physiology, especially in respiratory and pulmonary areas.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I used CPAP machines on patients. This helped ensure proper ventilation and kept their airways open. This hands-on experience showed me challenges that needed creative solutions. For example, I did respiratory testing in a drive-through setting.

Joining Your World Healthcare allowed me to challenge I and further my professional growth. Zak Nerurkar, an exceptional advisor, regularly obtained temporary positions suited to my abilities, offering the right level of challenge for professional growth.

In these roles, I learned about clinical physiology. This knowledge deepened my understanding of the human body. It also helped me provide physiological evaluations in urgent situations.

During the pandemic, I managed respiratory lists in hospitals that were short on staff. I worked with the well-known respiratory physiology team at the Royal Brompton Hospital. I also helped private practices on Harley Street. I also helped establish and train staff at one of the NHS’s top-performing Community Diagnostic Centres.

These experiences improved my skills in cardiac and pulmonary physiology. They gave me a strong understanding of human physiology. This knowledge helped me strengthen my management skills at a Band 8 level.

Alongside this role, I achieved my goal of getting into medical school. I secured an unconditional offer from Oxford University’s Accelerated Graduate-Entry Medicine Programme. I want to combine my knowledge of clinical physiology with new technologies like AI. My goal is to help people with chronic pain.

I want to work to become a doctor and anaesthetist. I will use my knowledge of the body and medical skills. My focus will be on the organ systems affected by chronic conditions.
