Fleet Vehicle Technician
Job Purpose: Perform skilled maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and servicing of Trust vehicles (ICE & BEV) and associated equipment while adhering to DVSA regulations, Trust policies, and safety standards. Work independently, make safety-related decisions, and be flexible with shifts, site visits, and on-call duties.

Pay Rates: Up to £17 per hour Umbrella or £19 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay
Hours / Working Days: 37.5 hours per week / Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose faults, repair, and maintain Trust vehicles, including ambulances and specialist equipment.
- Overhaul complex vehicle systems efficiently and safely.
- Conduct road tests and functional tests post-repair.
- Prepare new vehicles for service and decommission old ones.
- Maintain and repair specialist equipment like stretchers and wheelchairs.
- Accurately record all work done in the fleet management system.
- Attend breakdowns, effect repairs, and arrange recovery if needed.
- Follow health & safety protocols and ensure a tidy workspace.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and attend relevant training.
- Mentor new staff and apprentices.
- Stand in for the Team Leader when required.
Essential Requirements:
- City & Guilds/NVQ in Motor Vehicle Engineering or equivalent.
- L3 Electric Vehicle/Hybrid Qualification.
- Auto electrical experience with servicing & maintaining vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes.
- F-Gas Refrigerant Handling Qualification.
- Proficiency in computer-based vehicle diagnostic systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of health & safety in a workshop environment.
- Full, current driving license (C1 required within probation).
Desirable:
- Class C1 or D driving licence.
- MOT Tester Qualification.
- L4 EV/Hybrid Qualification.
- Experience with fleet management systems and emergency service vehicles.
- First Aid Qualification.
